Arthur Kipps is an orphan who makes good when he inherits a fortune unexpectedly. With coin in his pocket, a spring in his step, and a brand new banjo, Arthur’s off to climb the social ladder and make the most of a life he never expected to be able to lead.
Based on H G Wells’ semi-autobiographical novel Kipps: The Story of a Simple Soul, this transfer from the Chichester Festival Theatre has already had audiences on its feet night after night!
Half a Sixpence is a light comedy musical, so expect it to put a smile on your face that you won’t be able to lose. The Chichester production was not only well-received by audiences, but by critics too, and this show follows in a long line of productions that come to London after stunning audiences at the Festival Theatre. Produced by the legendary Cameron Mackintosh, and written by the Oscar-winning Julian Fellowes, some of the show’s best original songs are reprised, including Flash Bang Wallop, Money To Burn and Half A Sixpence. Expect an exhilarating, liberating night of fun and laughter.
