Wednesday March 9th 2016 saw the annual award ceremony for the Society of Box Office Managers (SOBOM) and the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers (STAR) in London’s glittering West End. Hosted by Planet Hollywood Haymarket, representatives from all of London’s top box offices gathered to celebrate achievements in the theatre ticketing industry.
From AKA and Dewynters to Ambassadors Theatre Group, Really Useful Group, Nimax Theatres and Delfont Mackintosh, some of Britain’s biggest ticketing agents and theatre owner-operators and theatreland’s top marketing agencies battled it out amongst the 46 nominees in 12 categories. Notable awards of the night included the Harry Potter team winning the Susanne Gilmartin Achievement Of The Year, and Theatre Of The Year won by the Savoy Theatre.
However, in an unprecedented scoop, TicketTree.com landed the Customer Service Award, a category decided by public nomination. With a staggering 147 nominations of nearly 600, TicketTree.com outstripped its competition to claim this prestigious and sought-after accolade.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said Will Langdale of TicketTree.com, “we knew our customers liked us, but we had no idea this many people would nominate us. We really can’t thank the people that voted enough”.
Jonathan Brown, Chief Executive of STAR, said, “There was a real warmth for TicketTree winning the award. My congratulations are joined by those of the STAR Council.”
Fresh from this triumph TicketTree.com has high hopes for the future. “This is fantastic news,” said Phil Allen, Managing Director of TicketTree.com. “We’ve worked hard for a very long time, and it’s overwhelming to see so many people appreciate what we do.”
“Now that it’s back to business as usual, it’s time to start putting in the work to try and win again next year!”
