• The Duchess Theatre, where The Play That Goes Wrong is performed, is famous for a production of Alfie in 1962. Lewis Gilbert, who saw the show, left the theatre after the performance and immediately contacted the writer about a transfer to the big screen. The iconic 1966 film version of Alfie (with Michael Cane) was the glorious upshot.
