The Woman in Black is the 2nd longest running play in West End history for a reason. It is a terrifying ghost story filled with twists and thrills and what can only be described as a chilling atmosphere. .
The play within a play follows Arthur Kipps, a solicitor called to set in order the affairs of a recently deceased widow, as he arrives at a rural village and begins to investigate the mysteries of his assigned case. The show is acted superbly by two cast members onstage, with the help of a handful more behind the scenes to create the most adrenaline-charged experiences in the West End.
With a Woman in Black theatre break, you are to expect jumps, screams and fear at the delightfully intimate Fortune Theatre, the show’s home for 24 years. A foggy, eerie atmosphere will greet you as the curtain lifts and you are transported back in time to a disserted Victorian theatre, from where the mesmerizing actors will pull you into the mysterious affairs of the Eel Marsh House. The Woman In Black theatre breaks are recommended for ages 8 and above. Under 5s will not be admitted.
Cheap theatre breaks are to be had in the Upper Circle, though careful of cramped legroom in some seats and a safety rail that can affect the front row. Taller theatregoers may want to give us a call – boxes at The Woman in Black are often good for budget theatre trips as sightlines aren’t as good as the Stalls.
